We here at The Dandelion Appreciation Society love Dandelions. We feel the Dandelion has gotten a really bad rap and has somehow become the quintessential scapegoat for all that is considered to be a "weed" in the world of the sterile toxic green lawn.
We are here to help educate to the contrary. Dandelions are one of the most beautiful and useful plants on the planet!

  2. Interesting idea! I wonder how many people would get run out of their neighborhoods if they put one up!

  3. This being our third awful summer in a row on Popof Island Alaska, I've just begun cultivating Dandelions and Mustard, which thrive here. And broad-leaves such as potatoes, foxglove, etc. Not much else actually does well in this climate.

Also, I can assure I'd not be run out of this neighborhood. Another perhaps, but not this one.

Can't believe I'm writing this: I'm actually interested in joining. Let's look around....

  4. Wow, just checked out some photos of Popof Island, very beautiful place. Personally I couldn't handle the winters, I hate the cold.
Would love to have you as a member as I would love to hear and share on the site some local Alaskan Dandelion Lore.
    Peace, Alan

  8. I will be joining as soon as I have the money. I love dandelions, being a bee gardian and having a top bar hive. I wish I had more of the bright yellow beauties in the spring. I also make dandelion wine. I can't understand people's quest for a perfect lawn especially through chemicals

  9. Dandelions are truly a gift of the earth. How is it that our politicians are not wearing burlap when so many of the non municipal employees cannot afford a ten dollar donation. I love this site!

  10. I'm so excited to discover your Society as dandelions are very near my heart! Please send me information about joining. I've long been a fan of dandelions and I've written a book about them: The Teeth of the Lion: The Story of the Beloved and Despised Dandelion. http://www.mwpubco.com/titles/dandelions.htm
    Thanks! Anita
